- Keep
a lot of reading material around. Have books or "books
on tape" in the car.
- Help
your child determine if a book is right for him or
her.
- Let
your child revisit old favorites.
- Don't
discourage your child from reading books that are
"too easy."
- Let
your child know that dropping a book once in awhile
is okay.
- Read
the first chapter for your child.
- Let
your child see you read. Talk about what you are reading.
- Value
books. Buy books at yard sales. Swap books with friends.
Give books as gifts.
